Wemberly Worried

In SPHE for the last few weeks we have been talking about worry and anxiety. We read a lovely story called  “Wemberly Worried” by Kevin Henkes.

We talked a lot about our own little worries and how to help ourselves.

Finally we re-told the story in our own words and drew our own pictures and made a little book for you to watch, listen and enjoy.

Atlantic Corridor Midlands Schools Competition ~ Living Things

Here are some photos of the Junior entry to the Atlantic Corridor Midlands Schools Competition. We had great fun learning about and compiling our entry.

We learned about Living things and Non-living things.

  • We went on a mini beast hunt.
  • We learned about habitats
  • We made our own habitat.
  • Worms and spiders and snails live in our garden.

We hope you like it.

Our Class Pets

Last year Ms. O’Connell’s room got class pets. We got two gerbils who we called “Coca” and “Cola”. They live just outside our door and are very happy. They need to be fed every day and we have to fill up their water bottle when needed. Their favourite foods are peanuts and sunflower seeds. Sometimes for a treat we give them some apple. They love to play on their wheel and also they love to chew little bits of wood. This keeps their teeth healthy. We have some photographs here if you would like to see them.

This year we got two goldfish. They are called “Goldie” and “Silver”. We feed them every day and Ms. O’Connell cleans their bowl and changes their water every week. They live in our classroom and they listen very carefully to everything we say – this helps to remind us always to be nice and not to make too much noise!

Road Safety

We were given high visibility vests for the children in Senior Infants and First Class. We got these from the Road Safety Authority. We talked a lot in class about being seen on dark evenings and about always being careful when crossing the road. After all that we modelled our new high vis vests and went outside to practice.

Don’t we all look well and aren’t we easy to see?!!
