Here is a picture of one of our 4th class pupils being presented with his Award by Minister Jimmy Deenihan at the Guaranteed Irish Art Awards.

His winning picture shows St. Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland.

We are very proud of Jay and hope he and his family enjoy their weekend away which was part  of the prize. He also won a night in hotel for his teacher Ms. Martin.

Well done Jay!

Pancake Day

We look forward to Pancake Day each year, Ms. O’Connell always takes out the cooker and the pan and lets the children help in preparing the pancake mixture, as you will see from the photos everyone get to have a turn getting them ready and everyone gets one to eat also, we use different toppings but chocolate is a firm favourite.

Sports Day

Sports Day was on June 20th. We were all involved. The children from 1st to 6th class were in teams of 6 with a person from each class taking part. The teams had great names: The Rusty Spoons, Pineapples, The Leopards, Eight Oreos, Castledaly Killers, The Smurfs, Bucks Fizz and Carmello Marshmallows.

Ms. Martin & Ms. Leslie ran the events and Ms. O Neill was the score keeper!

In the afternoon, Alan, our football coach did an obstacle course with Ms. O’ Connell’s infants.

Then Alan had a football blitz and our teams took part once again. This time The Leopards were the winners beating Bucks Fizz.

We all had great fun and we thank Bernie Farrell (parent) for organising ice-cream for everyone.

Here are some photos that were taken on the day.

Holy Communion 2011

Congratulations to second class who made their First Holy Communion, on Saturday the 14th of May, in St. Ciaran’s Church, Castledaly. . They, along with Ms. Corbett, worked very hard to prepare for the day. Everyone looked amazing!!!

Cake Sale Slideshow

Cake Sale Photos

On April 1st we had a cake sale in the gym. Ms. Moran and Ms. Walshe had asked the children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class to bring something nice. As you will see from our photos and slide show we got beautiful cakes, buns and cookies. We also sold homemade jam and some fresh farm eggs. Sixth class were the shopkeepers and by 3 pm every single thing was sold. We raised 960 euro and we are very grateful to everybody who supported us.

Go raibh mile maith agaibh!!!

Incredible Edibles

For the past 3 years the junior and senior infant classes have planted seeds and grown vegetables. This year we planted turnips, carrots, lettuce, potatoes and two strawberry plants. Also we each planted a nasturtium seed in our own little pot. When the seedlings are ready we hope to plant them out in our raised beds and watch them grow. Our plan is to have some vegetables or potatoes for everyone to take home!
