Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal

We had a wonderful response to our recent appeal for the Christmas Child Shoebox initiative. This is a great way to get the children to consider those who may not be as fortunate in life as we are and to learn to give a little to others. We thank you for your very generous contributions.

Here are photo’s of some of our collection.

Hallowe’en is a very exciting time. We, in Junior and Senior Infants, were very busy getting ready for spooky season. We learned some scary Hallowe’en rhymes about ghosts and witches.

We sang a great song about ghouls and goblins and scary black cats.

We read a wonderful story about a witch who had lots of room on her broom.

We even composed our own accompaniment to a story about “The Hairy Scary Castle.”

We  invited our mammies and daddies to come and see us perform.

We dressed up in our Hallowe’en costumes and Ms. O’Connell painted our faces!

Look at our scary photographs……if you dare!

Moate Show

We congratulate some of our pupils who came out winners in the Children’s Art section in the Annual Moate Agricultural Show. Well done to each of you, keep up the good work!

Junior Tour

On Monday 26th June the junior, senior & 1st class pupils had their school outing, they walked to Castledaly Manor and took part in organised activities, here are some photos of their day and the fun that they had.

Summer is here!

Junior & Senior Infants made some beautiful fluttery butterflies.

We learned a butterfly poem with actions and we danced to a piece of music called “The Butterfly Waltz.”

Look at our pictures.

Easter Raffle

Amid great excitement we held our annual Easter raffle, the children were very enthusiastic and the prizes were claimed very quickly. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this fund-raiser, the kitty has not been counted yet but there was a great response. Thanks again.

Update: The raffle returned €399 which we appreciate very much – thanks again to everyone who participated.

Here are the happy prize winners!

Pancake Tuesday

Tuesday February 28th was a very busy day in Ms. O’Connell’s room. We made pancakes!

We cracked the eggs, we mixed the flour and milk, we stirred the batter and then we cooked. After that came the best bit……we ate our pancakes!

We had made lots of batter and Ms O’Connell kept frying until everybody in the school had some and the teachers all had one for their lunch.

We put sugar, lemon and maple syrup on them – but everybody’s favourite was Nutella!

We learned a rhyme about making pancakes and we listened to a story about a very bold pancake who ran away because he did not want to eaten!

Junior infants drew some wonderful pancake pictures and Senior infants wrote our poem.

We took lots of photos so you can see what fun we had!

The Green Queen

Junior & Senior Infants have been talking a lot about colours. We talked about all the beautiful colours we see around us – in the sky, in the fields, on our clothes, flowers, birds, butterflies, etc. We all have a favourite colour.

We read a wonderful story about a queen who woke up on a dull, grey day and what she did to brighten it up. Then we did our paintings of the story. Have a look – we used our colours very well.
