School Awards 2016

On Wednesday June 22nd we had our awards / open afternoon and we met the 13 incoming junior infants and showed them around the school.

Oisín from 6th class received Sportsperson of the Year and Corey from 5th class was presented with The Michael English award for contribution to school life.

6th class had prepared a lovely speech and “Goodbye Song” which was much appreciated.

Sports Days

During the past week we had our sports — spread over 3 days. We had great fun and had lots of activities – welly throwing, an puc fada, sack race, circuits, races, football, basketball and even some dance.

Thanks a lot to Katie & Ciara (two first years) who came back to give us a hand. We took lots of photos – have a look!

Dun na Sí

On Wednesday June 15th the choir had a trip to Dun Na Sí Heritage Park as a little reward for all their hard work preparing for First Communion and Confirmation. We had a lovely guided tour first and we saw old machinery, old style farmhouses, some animals and also some old musical instruments.

In the hall Siobhán and Eliza Jane gave us a demonstration of Sean Nós dancing and then lots of us did some jigs and reels.

We then started a tour of “Art In The Park” but it began to rain very heavily so we headed home.

See our photos below.

Catholic Schools Survey results

Click on the link below to see the results of  the survey re: our status as a Catholic school.

We issued 63 forms and 53 were completed. We, as a staff, are glad to see that the vast majority of respondents are happy with this aspect of their children’s education. We do of course welcome any recommendations / suggestions on how we can improve. Please write to or email us at the school (details on our home page).

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support throughout the year. We are especially grateful to those of you who have contributed to the life of the school by:

  • offering transport / refereeing expertise for school matches.
  • supervision of servers rota.
  • helping out with the Friday “Do This In Memory” practices.
  • the 4F Fridays.
  • assisting with field trips.
  • organising and assisting with the 5K fundraiser last October.
  • hosting the celebrations on First Communion Day.
  • participation on Green School / Active School Committees.
  • representing parents on the Board of Management.

Enjoy the Summer break and we will see you all again on Thursday 1st September!

Junior Tour

On Monday 13th June the children from Junior & Senior Infants and First class set off on a big adventure – A TEDDY BEARS’ PICNIC – in the lovely new library in Moate.

Lorna & Anne welcomed us and we listened to stories, coloured a picture and had our indoor picnic. Then Lorna brought us down to what used to be the jail when this building was a court house. Some very bold people used to be locked in there.

It was dark and gloomy and even if our teddies got a little scared we were all very brave!

Look at our photos and see what a good time we had…..

Senior Tour

On Friday 10th June pupils from 2nd – 6th classes went on our tour to Baysports. We had a super day, we swam, we played, we did a bush walk and we toasted marsh mallows.

We did team building exercises, we sailed Kayaks, we went on surfboards and best of all we played on the inflatable water park. We had the best fun & we want to thank Richie O’Hara and his staff for a wonderful day.

Have a look at our photos.
