Well done Ally.

Our European Project

Europe is one of the seven continents, made up of a large number of countries. We celebrate European Day on the 9th May. In class, we have been learning about the rivers and mountains of Europe. For example, Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain.

We also made European timelines from the 1900s to now relating to sports, historical events, wars, peace deals and inventions around Europe.

There are many famous landmarks in Europe on which we modelled our clay sculptures. First, we had to mould the clay using our hands and clay tools. We allowed them to dry and then we spray painted them. You can see pictures of these, our country factfiles and our excellent baking skills in the form of delicious landmarks. We enjoyed sampling them all!

Author visit

Sarah Webb

Last Friday 16th October – 5th & 6th class had a zoom call with an Irish author called Sarah Webb. She answered some questions and gave us ideas for Autumn poems.

We got to ask lots of questions; we asked about her dog, who is called Lucky, tips to be a writer, her motto in life and many more. She told us that her book Animal Crackers was one of her favourites as she loves animals. One of the tips she gave to people who wanted to be authors was to read lots of books.

Some people read their autumn poems. At the end she showed us her Halloween costume. She also showed us some of the books she wrote e.g. Blazing A Trail, Irish Women who Changed the World.

Confirmation 2020

Confirmation 2020

At the end of a summer of uncertainty on August 15th the children from 6th class finally received the sacrament of Confirmation in St. Ciaran’s Church.

Mons. Noonan welcomed everybody warmly and told us that this was the first time Confirmation had ever been celebrated in there.

Our 17 wonderful young people also graduated from primary school and were presented with their certificates by Mrs. Bradley.

It was a joy to meet them again and wish them the very best as they move on to the next phase in life. We will miss them!
